About Florence Ivins Anderson

Florence Ivins Wilson Anderson, 87, slipped peacefully through the veil from her home to our Heavenly home on February 11, 1996.

She was born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico on October 21, 1908 to Guy C. Wilson and Anna Lowrie Ivins Wilson. She married her sweetheart Elbert H Anderson on October 7, 1931, in the Salt Lake Temple. They were married 64 years and look forward to an eternity together. They have six children: Ronald Anderson (Janet), Niel Anderson (Luana), Anna Lowrie England (Lynn), Douglas Anderson (Claudia), Christine Clark (Richard), and Stevens Anderson (Diane). They have 28 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren who love them dearly. Our sweetheart, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will be greatly missed, but we know she is continuing in her eternal progression, serving, planning, and preparing for the time when we can all be together again.Florence is also survived by sisters and a brother: Marguerite Wilson, Rachel Mabey, Rebecca Hodge, Antoinette Daynes, Ruth Wilson, and Grant Wilson, and half-brothers and sisters: Elizabeth Sears, Mabel Evans, Meredith Wilson, and Woodrow Wilson. Preceded in death by parents, a sister Anna I. Wilson, and half-brothers Guy C. Wilson, and Stevens Wilson.

Florence attended Salt Lake City schools and graduated from L.D.S. High School. She attended B.Y.U., the U of U, and L.D.S. Business College. She was an active member of the L.D.S. Church. She loved church work, genealogy, gardening, crafts, writing poetry, storytelling, camping and hiking, and good books. She held many positions in the L.D.S. Church, including teacher and member of the presidency in Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society and also Cub Scouts. She served many years as a genealogist in church and family organizations. She was appreciative of her pioneer heritage and was an active member and officer in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. Her main focus in life was her family, for which we will always be grateful. Her example lives on in all of us. She valued education and encouraged her family to learn and develop their talents. She was especially sensitive to the less fortunate, and in her quiet, unassuming way touched many with her lifetime of unselfish service.
