NOTE:
Florence was born in 1884 by several sources.
William and Nancy weren’t married until 1886 according to the marriage license.
Patsy Shepard reports a story that Nancy was raped by an Indian and Florence was born. However, Florence listed “Bill” as her father on her Enrollment card for membership in Choctaw tribe, as the wife of Sidney Burris. She reported herself as white on all of the census records found. If she was really part Indian and was married to an Indian, why would she have continued to report herself as white?
