Florence Adeline Porter

Aug. 11, 1912--Wallace Porter, father of Florence Adeline Porter ("Polly"), writes from Higganum, Connecticut to his son, Philip Wells Porter, Sr., who is temporarily residing in Dillon, Colorado: "Polly autos quite a lot. If it was not for that I guess it would be pretty dull for her. She and Hezzy (her brother, Hezekiah Scovil Porter) have worked over the tennis court with Albert's help. But there is not much playing going on."

1913-1914--Florence Adeline Porter attended Lasell Seminary for Young Women, Auburndale, Massachusetts. Her brother, Ralph W. Porter, reported in his diary that "Adaline" departed Haddam, Connecticut for Lasell on Monday, Sept. 22, 1913.

July 28, 1915--A letter is sent to Florence Adeline Porter announcing the annual meeting of the D & H Scovil, Co., Higganum, CT. She is residing in Higganum.

Sept. 19, 1935--Florence Adeline Porter's nephew, Philip Wells Porter, Jr., then 16 years of age, pencils the following entry in his diary: "Aunt Polly came east today. She hasn't been east in 7 years."

Dec. 25, 1954--Philip Wells Porter, Jr. celebrates Christmas at the home of his aunt, Florence Adeline Porter, a.k.a. "Aunt Polly, which is in or near Los Angeles. Her next-door neighbors are Mr. and Mrs. Stan Laurel, of Laurel and Hardy fame. [Mr. Laurel had just been through the ordeal of having been the guest of honor on "This is your life."].

June 1969--Florence Adeline Porter is residing at 744 North Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, California 92651.
