Married Calista May Orton September 11, 1932 in Holly, Colorado.
Obituary: Floyd LaVerne Roberts was born Feb 3, 1901 the first born of twin sons to Blanche Olivia (Warner) and Byron LaVern Roberts at Jetmore, Kan.
Floyd completed eight years of school in a one room school house. He moved to Colorado in 1931. Floyd, his twin brother, Lloyd and their father, ran a thrashing crew, doing custom thrashing all over western Kansas and southeastern Colorado.
He married Calista May Orton in Holly, Sept 11, 1932. To this union six children were born, three girls and three boys.
Floyd and Calista moved their family to the Karval area in March of 1943, making Karval their home to farm and ranch for over 50 years. Floyd took ill on May 1, 1994 and after a month stay in the hospital, Floyd entered the Lincoln Community Nursing Home where he lived until he passed away Dec 7, 1995. Preceding Floyd in death were his parents, twin brother, Lloyd, brother Charley, sister Alberta, and two great-grandchildren.
Survivors include Floyd's wife, Calista, of Karval; children, Allen LaVerne Roberts of Englewood, Alta May Harris of Karval, Elvin Lloyd Roberts of Loma, Mont, Wanda Faye Cromwell of Carrolton, Texas, Nevella Jean Meyer of Morrison, and Daryl Roberts of Morrison, one brother, Muriel Roberts of Aurora, and one sister Darline Merwin of La Junta, 11 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Dec 10, 1995 at the Karval School Auditorium. Pastor Ron Clark officiated. Roger Stone sang "How Great Thou Art" and In the Sweet, Bye & Bye" accompanied by Mary Merewether, pianist.
Casket bearers were Floyd's grandsons, Kenneth Cromwell, David Roberts, Don Roberts, Jim Roberts, Richard Roberts, Bryan Roberts. Greg Roberts, Jonathan Meyer, Jeff Small, Jon Small, Bob Skinner and Michael McWilliams. Honorary escorts were "Dads" many friends.
Interment was at the Bucklen Cemetery in Karval. Arrangements were made through the Love Funeral Home of Limon. Memorial contributions may be given in Floyd's name to the Karval Nazarene Church or the Karval Fire Department. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=40411879
