- "WIFE OF IOWA CAPITALIST DIES AT 83. Was Semi-Invalid for Several Years. Mrs. Frances Elizabeth Cooper Hubbell, wife of Iowa’s wealthiest citizen, died at the family home, Terrace Hill, yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock of the infirmities incident to old age.
- "Mrs. Hubbell had been in failing health for several years prior to her heath. She is survived by her husband, F.M.Hubbell; one sister, Mrs. C. Florence Ginn; two sons, Frederick C. And Grover C. Hubbell, and one daughter, Countess Beulah Cooper Wachmeister.
- "WAS 83 YEARS OLD. Mrs. Hubbell was 83 years old at the time of her death and had been a resident of Des Moines for the past seventy-eight years. She was born in Ohio Aug. 24, 1840, and came to Des Moines in 1846 with her father, Issac Cooper, a prominent early settler of Des Moines. She was married of Des Moines. She was married to F.M. Hubbell March 19, 1863. The family has lived at their present home, Terrace Hill, since 1884.
- "Private funeral services will be held at the home Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Elmer Nelson Owen, rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be made at Woodland Cemetery. The family requests that flowers be omitted.
- "CELEBRATED ANNIVERSARY. Mr. & Mrs. Hubbell recently celebrated their sixty-first Wedding Anniversary receiving a large number of pioneer residents of Des Moines and friends of the family who visited to pay their respects to the couple. Mrs. Hubbell was married to F.M. Hubbell in 1863 at the home of her father, Isaac Cooper The quiet wedding ceremony was performed in the presence of twenty guests by Rev. Thompson Bird.
- "Of the guests present at the wedding only four are living: Mrs. Florence Cooper Ginn, Mrs. Richard Welislager of Pasadena, Cal.; George Osgood of Portland, Orel, and Mrs. Frank Pelton of California. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. F.R. West, Mr. and Mrs. Henry, Rachel Winters, Mary D. Reinking, Mrs. Thompson Bird, Richard Wellslager, Matilda Henry and Mary Fuller, all prominently identified with early Des Moines history.
- "Mrs. Hubbell had not taken an active part in social or club affairs in recent years owing to the fact that she had been confined to her home a semi-invalid for a number of years.
- "She had, however, a wide acquaintance and a large number of friends among the older residents of Des Moines.
