About Frances Mary 'Narayanee' Lewis-Hall
2006 - Joan McSwiney reminisced to her daughter, Angela, that she remembered meeting Bryce and Pru, and that Pru's mother (Narayanee) ran a hotel in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (which is where Joan's parents lived.)
Pru's son Steve writes "My mother, Prudence Rosamund Cousens, formerly Manifold (her first husband's name) nee Lewis-Hall, died in 1992 . Her mother, my grandmother, Narayanee Lewis-Hall having been widowed did indeed buy a building and open a hotel [The Thirlestaine Hall Hotel] in Cheltenham, Glos. This was a very successful venture being a "classy" hotel situated near to both cheltenham college and the 'ladies college' so that visiting parents stayed there. During WW2 once the Americans eventually got involved in Europe, Thirlestaine Hall Hotel was very popular with the U.S. brass."
