About Frances Thorner
Frances attended Roxbury Memorial High School where she was a Drill Leader 4 and in the Dramatic Club. Her high school yearbook said, "She's an athlete, as you can tell, She loves all sports, and does them well."
Mom was a fantastic cook and baker. She always kept a freezer full of osso bucco, fresh peach pie filling, cookie bars and mandel bread for when Bob or one of the kids brought someone home unexpectedly. My mother and brother had a running battle over the goodies in the freezer. We all grazed, but one time Stephen ate all but one of her cookie bars right before a tea she was planning to have. Mom would lock the freezer door and hide the key. Stephen would find the key, unlock the freezer, graze and then hide the key again. Finally, Mom hid the key so well no one could find it. Fortunately, the next door neighbors had the same model so the freezer could be unlocked. Years later, Stephen would stop by the house, grab some goodies from the freezer and leave his business card for Mom to find. Mom loved that.
Fran volunteered with a number of organizations over the years, including Brookside Gardens, Headstart, the National Council of Jewish Women, Hadassah and Kemp Mill Elementary School Library. Fran and Bob used to walk at Brookside most days when they were in Maryland.
