They separated, but no record of a divorce, although by her leaving him at the time it may have been considered "Desertion" and he may have filed on those grounds. On Census Reports she lists herself as married, then after Col. Bingham Trigg's death, lists widow. This may have been out of embarrassment as the stigma of divorce during this era, for her social class would have had repercussions for her and her daughter.'s. She raised her four daughters by herself. She was a woman of means, the daughter of Henry Hill Field, she inherited the land and an estate in Lockhart, Calwell County, Texas where she and her daughter lived after she moved from Austin. She was an independent, socially active woman in Lockhart until her death in 1920. Her will was probated and her daughters were all named in her will.

He was a District Attorney in Travis County, Texas. She was a schoolteacher.
