About Francis Diller, Jr

Frantz "Francis" Diller was born in 1743, the first of six children born to Francis Diller/Tuëller and his wife Anna when they resided in Biglen of Bern, Switzerland. He spent his early childhood years in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where his father engaged in farming and acquired a considerable estate.

Francis (Jr) was only eleven yers old when his father and mother and his younger siblings emigrated from Switzerland to the colony of Pennsylvania in America in 1754. He resided in the following counties in Pennsylvania: Lancaster, Northumberland (now Lycoming) near Williamsport, and Cumberland. His Cumberland property spanned the Conodoguinet Creek and fell into both the Lower Frankford and West Pennsboto Townships; it was on the Creek banks that he built his Mill, which still stands. Today the mill is known as Heishman's Mill, owned 1992 by Wm. Foshag.

In 1770 Francis married Elizabeth Behme/Beam, the daughter of Jacob Beam. Together they had five children: • Abraham (b. 1774) • John (b. 1775-1859) • 'Miller' Francis (17 Mar 1776-17 May 1845) • Uriah (1779-15 Mar 1860) • Nancy (Diller) Rice (8 Oct 1783-8 Dec 1861) • Elizabeth (Diller) Guthrie (12 Nov 1809-25 Sep 1876)

Francis Diller Jr. died on 24 Feb 1814 and was survived by his wife, and all of his children. His descendants established themselves in Canada: Ontario, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and in the U.S.: PA, NY, OH, MO, MI, IN, IL, NE.
