His Father's Heir

He had a precept of clare constat from George, Bishop of Orkney on 23 Jamuary 1628, which confirmed that he was the heir of his deceased father Adam Mudie of Breckness in a seven penny and three farthing land in Outer Stromness, half the land of Stennager and a quoy called Smiddiequoy, all in the parish of Stromness in Orkney. Death

Francis Mudie of Breckness was alive on October 1642 when he is mentioned in a sasine of that date, but he died before 6 April 1644 when his son and heir James Mudie was in possession of of Melsetter.
