Francisco Murphy was born near Pennsboro, Harrison Co. (now Ritchie Co.), (W.) Va., on December 11, 1816, the son of William Murphy and Hannah (Cunningham). He was raised in the Harrison/Ritchie & Wood County, (W.) Va., areas.

At the age of 19, Francisco Murphy married Miss Roena (Lowers) in Wood Co., (W.) Va., on October 30, 1836. After their marriage, Francisco and Roena lived at Murphy's Mills (later Murphytown), Wood Co., (W.) Va. They had 10 children born to their union.

Francis Murphy (age 34, B-Va., Farmer) is listed on the 1850 Wood Co., (W.) Va., census with his 1st wife, Rowena (age 31, B-Va.), and kids: William-12, Mary-10, Alvina-8, Nancy-6, James-4, Lucy-1 (all kids B-Va.) #633-635

After the death of his 1st wife (in 1870), Francisco Murphy remarried to Rhoda (Cornell) at Murphytown, Wood Co., W. Va., on April 9, 1872. After their marriage, Francisco and Rhoda lived at Murphytown, Wood Co., W. Va., where their 6 children were born. They later removed to Cornell, Livingston Co., Illinois, with their children, and here they spent the remainder of their lives.

Francisco Murphy is buried in the Cornell Cemetery in Cornell, Livingston Co., Illinois, near his 2nd wife, Rhoda (Cornell) Murphy.
