About Frank Wallace Grunseth

Janesville Gazette: ELKHORN Frank Wallace (a/k/a Wonderful) Grunseth, 88, of 306 Franklin St., Elkhorn, died unexpectedly on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004, at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 15, 1916, in Ingram, WI, the son of Butler and Carrie (Waage) Grunseth. Frank attended public schools in Ingram and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire with a Bachelor of Science degree and graduated with a Masters degree at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Frank spent 3 ½ years with the 104th Infantry Division in WWII with a tour of duty in the European Theater. On April 6, 1944 in Milwaukee, he married Nona Scheide before going overseas. After being discharged from the service in 1945, they came to Elkhorn and was hired as School Principal. Frank worked with Elkhorn Area School District for over 37 years as Teacher, Principal and Interim Administrator, retiring in 1982. Frank was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Elkhorn, member of the Walworth County Retired Teachers Assoc., member of Elkhorn VFW post #6375, Volunteer at Lakeland Medical Center, Meals on Wheels, President of the Elkhorn Food Pantry, member of the Elkhorn Kiwanis Club, member of the Country Gentlemen-Barber Shop Chorus, former member of the Elkhorn Light and Water Commission. He was Elkhorn Citizen of the Year 2003. Frank also served as Bailiff for 17 years with the Walworth County Circuit Courts. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nona; 2 sons, John (Annette) Grunseth of Green Bay and James (Barbara) Grunseth of Elkhorn; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite Wild of Culver City, CA; and 2 brothers, Glen Grunseth of Tony, WI, and Dale (Fae) Grunseth of Albuquerque, NM. Frank was preceded in death by 5 sisters: Evelyn, Belle, Dorothy, Anita and Clara; and 2 brothers, Archie and Tom. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 29, 2004, at ST. JOHN 's Lutheran Church , with Rev. Douglas Demlow officiating. Burial with military rites will be held at Roselawn Memory Gardens in the Town of Delavan. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 28, from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home , 730 N. Wisconsin St., Elkhorn, and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Arrangements completed by HAASE-DERRICK-LOCKWOOD FUNERAL HOMES.
