FP Morrison, Pres of 1st Natl Bank of Redlands, is native Californian, & b San Francisco 1859. He graduated in 1878 from scientific course of Yale Univ. In 1882 Mr Morrison came to Redlands. Very little of this section was improved at that time, but Mr Morrison purchased land intending to improve it & reside here. In Jun of that yr he planted 5 acres to oranges & in summer 1885 completed his residence on Palm Av. At present time Mr Morrison has abt 75 acres in orchards w/in city limits & several other improved tracts in this immediate neighborhood. When Bear Valley dam was projected he became 1 of 1st stockholders, owning 1000 shares of orig 3600, but he sold his interest bef irrigation system was completed. He was identified, however, in many ways w/early history of Redlands. Mar 5 1887 Bank of E San Bernardino Valley, now 1st Natl Bank of Redlands, was incorporated & opened for business 4 Apr. Mr Morrison was its 1st president. Bank was originally opened in George A Cook's bldg on corner of Colton Av & Orange St, Lugonia, but was soon moved to Wilson & Berry block directly opposite. Jun 25 1888 it was moved to bldg now occupied by post office & its name was changed as above. In 1892 its present bldg, formerly Sloan House, was purchased & remodeled to accommodate 1st Natl & Savings Bank of Redlands which was incorporated Jun 25 1891, & of which Mr Morrison has been president since it opened. He has been city treas since 1st city election Nov 26 1888. Mr Morrison is Knight Templar & mbr in 32d degree of Scottish rite order.
