About Frank Strain
From Big Timbers Historical Society, Lamar, CO: Frank Strain moved to Lamar at the age of 8 with his parents. He volunteered for military service in World War I, in 191. He served in the infantry and was part of the St. Mihiel Drive. He returned a Lieutenant, having been wounded in action. He helped organize the National Guard which ;he served in as Captain of Company E and was instrumental in building the armory. Frank was also associated with Strain Brothers as an assistant manager and later as general manager, having started with the company in 1919. He was Secretary of the Union Ice & Storage CO. He was fraternally associated with the Elks lodge having been Exalted Ruler in 1934. He was a charter member of the Noon Lions Club and served as executive secretary and District Governor and past president. He was a commander of the American Legionnaires, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was associated with the Chamber of Commerce and the Red Cross. He was an Ancient Free and Accepted Mason Lodge 90, Royal Arch Mason No. 32, and the Al Kaly Shrine of Pueblo. He was a member of the Colorado Seed Association. He as a member of the Presbyterian church. He resided at 10 Paseo Place. He was found dead at the Strain Brothers office, 200 North Main, shortly after 7 a.m. by fellow worker Charles Day and 2 others. Death was attributed to a heart attack as he was in good health the day before when he met his father who returned form New York and Atlantic City by train.
