He came to New York from Liverpool, England on board the Celtic on April 26, 1908. He calls himself Arvid Gustafson in the US. He married Anna Sofia Nysten on October 20, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa. They had children Linnea b. 1918, Harry, William and Arthur. He worked as a mechanic in 1921.
