About Franziska Alexander
Franziska Zerkowitz was named in honor of her maternal grandmother, Fanni Smetana (Freiwirt). She was married first to Karl Weiniger, but was later divorced from him. On 2 November 1938, Franziska Weiniger, age 48, born Vienna, "divorced, insurance employee", arrived in New York Harbor with her mother, Therese Czerkowitz, age 70. Following her arrival in the United States, she married a second husband, Robert Alexander. She died in Queens, New York in October 1979, age 89 years.
