Fred Washington Atkinson

Dr. Fred Washington Atkinson received his A. B. from Harvard University in 1890; and his Ph.D. from the University of Leipzig in 1893. As an educator, he held prominent positions in various institutions: Head of Science Department, Westfield High School (MA), 1891; University of Berlin, 1891; University of Halle, 1892; Universities of Jena and Sorbornne, 1893-1894; Principal, Springfield High School (MA), 1894-1900, General Superintendent, Philippine Public Instruction, 1900-1903, Superintendent of Schools, Newton, MA., 1904; President, Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn, NY, from 1904; Member, Board of Education, New York City, 1916-1918.
