Frederick S. Bakowski July 16, 1946 - April 18, 2009 UNCASVILLE - Frederick S. Bakowski, 62, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Born on July 16, 1946 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Sigmund and Stephanie (Jablonski) Bak-owski. He graduated from New London High School in 1964, and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Army. He was retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Fred was a published author and poet whose work appeared in several volumes of poetry, newspapers, and the book "Chicken Soup for the Father and Son's Soul". He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. In 1968 he was united in marriage to Katherine (Craig) Bakowski and had three children. Surviving is his wife Katherine Bakowski of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; daughters Lisa and Carissa Bakowski of Deltona, FL; son and daughter in law Stephen and Ingrid Bakowski of West Palm Beach, FL; brother Richard Bakowski of Crestview, FL; brother and sister in law Paul and Sandra Bakowski of Uncasville; sister in law Maureen Lorme of Uncasville; nieces and nephews Karen, David, Susan and Michael Bakowski, and many relatives and friends. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 1, 2009 at 9 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Elizabeth St., Norwich, with interment to follow with Military Honors in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to either Mother Angelica Ministries c/o EWTN, 5817 Old Leeds Rd., Irondale, AL 35210-2164 or Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Monastery, 2625 Highway 212 S.W., Conyers, GA 30094-4044.
