Frederick William Whipkey

Fred W. Whipkey, 78, of Waynesburg, RD 4, died Wednesday, April 16, 1975 at 2:15 a.m. at University Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va. after an illness of the past four weeks.

He was born April 18, at Nobe, Calhoun County, W.Va., the son of the late William and Ida Roberts Whipkey. He is preceded in death by one son, one daughter, two grandsons, two sisters and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Cumberledge Whipkey, whom he married Oct. 18, 1919; three daughters, Mrs. Albert "Betty" Blake of Moundsville, W.Va., Mrs. Pauline Dailey of Waynesburg, RD 3, and Mrs. Perry "Helen" Moore of Pine Bank, RD 1; three sons, Ray L. and Lawrence, both of Holbrook and Earl of Waynesburg, RD 4; one sister, Mrs. Luella Livengood of Washington; two brothers, Harold and Royal Whipkey, both of Waynesburg; 30 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He spent his early life in West Virginia and resided in Greene County for the last 70 years. A retired farmer and stock raiser, he was a member of the Wolf Run Baptist Church, W.Va. A veteran of World War I, he served in the U.S. Army.

Friends of Fred W. Whipkey, who died Wednesday, April 16, 1975, are being received in the Mariner and Milliken Funeral Home, Waynesburg on Thursday from 7-9 P.M. and on Friday from 3-9 P.M.; where services will be held Saturday with Rev. John Hadlock officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville.
