Obituary of Fred Bellis.
Fred Edward Bellis was born in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, May 26, 1856, and died May 6th, 1918, at Duluth, Minn.
In 1868 at the age of twelve he came with his mother and sister to Fayette county, Iowa. In 1878 he was united in marriage to Alice Learn, who survives him. To this union seven children were born, four boys and three daughters. Ernest, who resides south of Randalia, Charles of Northfield, Minn.; Milton of Co. C. Duluth, Minn.; Lyle of Camp Grant, Ill.; Mrs. Mable Lucas, Ladysmith, Wis., and Mrs. Bernice Canning of Duluth, Minn., who survived him, also one daughter, Lily, who died in infancy. In 1908 he moved with his family from the vicinity of Randalia to Gordon, Bayfield county, Wis., where he resided until his death. Besides the widow and children he leaves to mourn his passing one sister, Mrs. Will Thompson, of Fayette, and three brothers: Stewart, of Waterloo, Iowa; John of Gordon, Wis., and William of Pennsylvania. The remains, accompanied by the widow and children, arrived here Wednesday afternoon, May 8th. Funeral services were held from the M.E. church at 4:00 o'clock, Wednesday, Rev. William Butler officiating. Interment was made in the Dunham Grove cemetery. Those from a distance were, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Anderson and daughter, Ruth; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Lichte and Tom Bellis, all of Clermont, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. House, West Union; Warren and E. Bellis of Elma, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Will Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. John Gray, Fayette, Iowa.
