About Fritz Martin Torsh
Uncle Fritz worked at the Creditanstalt in Veinna after he finished his war service for the Kaiser. He was so brave in the trenches at the Battle of Isonzo (near Trieste in Italy) that he was awarded a medal for being under fire for 6 months and was promoted as well. When he and Toni and Susan sailed to New York in 1940 they changed their name from THORSCH to THORNE.
Born in Uh Brod HBMa 2246 page 182 entry number 1. witnesses to his birth were Isidor WINTER his grandfather and Herman KOHN a cousin of his mother's who was from Holic.
