Gale Tolmonen Obituary
The family of Gale Tolmonen sadly announce her passing October 1, 2001 at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital. Gale grew up in Dorion. She received her secondary education in Thunder Bay. In 1983, Gale successfully completed a Certified General Accountants' designation while employed at Tom Jones & Sons Limited, Thunder Bay. Following her graduation, she took a position as controller with MacMillan Bleodel, Nipigon. The company transferred her to their head office in Vancouver in 1986. Gale was always appreciated and well respected for her hard work ethics. Whatever she started, she finished to the best of her ability. She was well-liked by everyone who were fortunate enough to work with her. In Vancouver, she met Brian Ball and they were married in September 1990. In November 1994, the family moved to Edmonton. Gale and her family returned to Dorion in 1996, to operate Tolmonen/Ball Bus Service. She chose to establish an accounting practice out of her home in order to spend more time with her family. Gale enjoyed living again in Dorion and became an active member of the community. She was treasurer of St. Matthew's Anglican Church and represented Dorion on the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital Board. Gale loved the outdoors and preferred to be gardening, fishing, cross country skiing, biking or curling. She is survived by her husband, Brian, two daughters; Brittany and Blair, sisters, Linda Tolmonen (Bob), Judy McCool (Henry), brothers;' Robert Jones (Shirley), Stewart Jones (Nettie), Aunt Nora and Uncle Art Currie, special niece, Debbie (David) and numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Reino and Mary. According to Gale's wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 5, 2001 at 11:00 am at the Dorion Community Centre. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the St. Matthew's Anglican Church Building Fund (Dorion) or Nipigon District Memorial Hospital. ."
