About Gardner K. Dealing
The funeral of Gardner K. Dealing, whose death was noticed in this column last week, was held last Wednesday at the M. E. church. The weather was stormy, but many, particularly the older inhabitants, were present to pay their respects to a worthy and aged citizen.
The Rev. H. Harris preached an appropriate sermon and was assisted in the services by Revs. Walker and Forsythe. The remains were placed in the receiving vault in Adams, where deceased will be buried.
Gardner K. Dealing was born near Rome, Oneida county, N. Y. and was 81 years of age. He moved to this place more than thirty years ago, where he followed the occupation of a miller. He was a very industrious and all around useful man, doing with his might what his hands found to do. He was an honest, upright, faithful citizen, a kind, faithful husband and parent, and a consistent and devoted member of the M. E. church, always at his post and ready to do his share as a vigilant watchman on the walls of Zion. He was noted for his industry and punctuality, his kindness of heart and amiable disposition, always on good terms with his neighbors and ready to lend a helping hand. Faithful citizen, devoted husband and father, consistent Christian, thou hast fought a good fight, finished the faith. Requiescat in pace. Deceased leaves two children, Geo. Dealing and Mrs. Geo. P. Clark.
