- Gary Randall Couvillion, native of Alexandria and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on March 25, 2014 at the age of 63. He was a newspaper editor who had a 40-year career in journalism, including 35 years with The Advocate. He was a ham radio operator, volunteer Boy Scout leader, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was a loving father, grandfather, and brother who is survived by his wife, Ellyn Couvillion; children, Desiree Damann and spouse Kenneth Damann III, Danielle Mock and spouse Clint Mock, Brady Couvillion, Anna Catalanello, Laura Catalanello, Daniel Catalanello, and Meagan Couvillion; grandchildren, Grace Ann Damann, Kenneth "Cort" Damann IV, Hadlei Mock and Peyton Mock; mother, Janell O'Quin; his twin sister, Gay Watson; and his brother, Ronald Couvillion. He is preceded in death by his father, Leroy P. Couvillion Jr. Visitation will be held on Saturday March 29, 2014 at Greenoaks Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at noon.
