Gavin Hamilton

GAVIN HAMILTON

Gavin Hamilton is the second son of James Hamilton, second Earl of Arran, and his wife, Lady Margaret Douglas. He is styled second son in two charters, both dated 22 October 1542. He is also described as second son of the Regent in a grant of date 30 September 1543, by Queen Mary to him, and to John and David, his brothers-german, of the ward of William, Lord Herries, and the marriage of his three daughters. Gavin Hamilton appears to have died before August 1547, in his youth. The Scots Peerage IV: 369
