Geils Crawford was born in 1509, in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland, her father, Sir Robert Crawford of Kilburnie, was 27 and her mother, Margaret Isabel Sempill, was 24. She had at least 2 sons and 2 daughters with Gavin Carmichael of Hyndford and Park. She died on 4 June 1552, in her hometown, at the age of 43.
