"General Edwin Clinton Wilson, son of Judge James and Anne (Adams) Wilson, was born in Steubenville, Ohio, February 16, 1820. He was educated at Jefferson College, Cannonsburg, Pennsylvania. He read law under the office tutelage of Edwin M Stanton, who later rose to fame as war minister in President Lincoln's cabinet. He was admitted to the Ohio bar, and practiced at Steubenville, for some years. He then removed to Franklin, Pennsylvania, and was admitted to the bar of Venango county, February 26, 1845. In 1859, he removed to Erie, Pennsylvania, and continued in the practice of his profession with pronounced success. He also served acceptably as adjutant-general of the state under appointment by Governor William F Parker, in 1858, and occupied that position until the inauguration of Governor Andrew G Curtin, two years later, who made him quartermaster-general of the state. On February 12, 1862, he was given a commission by President Lincoln as assistant quartermaster of volunteers with rank of captain dating from August 16, 1861, and during the civil war period he performed service most laborious and of the highest usefulness in fitting out troops at Harrisburg and later at Buffalo. After the close of the war he took up residence in Baltimore, Maryland, and resided there until his death. He was a man of distinguished ability and fine address, and possessed fine oratorical gifts. He married, January 25, 1844, Elizabeth, daughter of Judge Alexander McCalmont. Children: Henry Medary, and John Adams, all of whom are mentioned below; and William, who was drowned at the age of six years."

"General Edwin Clinton Wilson, lawyer, soldier, and legislator, was a native of Steubenville, Ohio, where he was educated and later studied law with Secretary Stanton, and practiced here before his removal to Franklin, Pennsylvania, where he was admitted to the Venango County bar in 1840. He subsequently became a partner of the late Judge John S McCalmont, and was noted for his oratotical skill and the eloquence of his presentation of cases in the courtroom. He married Elizabeth McCalmont, a daughter of Judge Alexander and Elizabeth Hart (Connely) McCalmont, and a sister of Judge John S McCalmont."

"General E C Wilson - General Wilson, whose remains were brought to this city yesterday, was a native of Steubenville, Ohio. He was born in 1819, and was consequently in his fifty-fifth year at the time of his death. When a young man he learned the printer's business and subsequently studied law, and was admitted to the bar in Steubenville. From there he removed to Franklin, in this State, where he married and resided for many years. He was in 1858 appointed Adjutant General of the State under Governor Packer and soon after removed to this city, where he resided from 1859 to 1867. While the late war was in progress he served in the army as Assistant Quartermaster General and during the latter years of his life made his home in Baltimore. The friends and acquaintances whom he retained in Erie kept alive his attachment to the place and his request was to be buried here, and the funeral will take place this morning at half past ten o'clock from the M E Church, corner of Seventh and Sassafrass streets."
