About Gen. Fidel V. Segundo

Fidel V. Segundo is a West Point-educated soldier. Upon his return from his studies abroad, he taught military science at the University of the Philippines and was appointed as the chief of staff for intelligences, operations and training in the Philippine Army. When WWII broke out, the officers and cadets of the Philippine Military Academy was activated as an instrument of war and renamed the 1st Regular Division, with General Segundo as commander. He led the reinforced division that defended the Morong sector, during the historic battle of Bataan. Segundo was still holding his line when the order to surrender Bataan came on April 9, 1942. After his release from Capas concentration camp in Tarlac, he stayed in Santa Ana, Manila. On December 19, 1944, he and his son, Fidel Jr. were arrested by the Japanese. After having been brutally tortured, both father and son were tied, back to back and beheaded. More here: http://bit.ly/Hn7ZAU.
