Geneva E Whittaker 89 died Wednesday at a Lewiston hospital following a short illness. She was born in Troy April 8 1898, daughter of Edwin S and Geneva A (Blaisdell) Whittaker. She attended Troy and Unity schools and Shaw’s Business School in Bangor. She was a 1925 graduate of the Maine General Hospital School of Nursing in Portland, where she was employed thereafter as assistant nursing supervisor for two years. Miss Whittaker was a nursing supervisor at St Andrews Hospital in Boothbay two years and then spent four years as an operating room supervisor and x-ray technician at the Gardiner hospital. She later was assistant nursing supervisor 20 years at the same hospital, then was an Anesthetist at Central Maine General Hospital in Lewiston for two years retiring in 1964. Miss Whittaker moved to a farm in Litchfield and most recently resided in Lewiston. She was a member of the American Red Cross and lifetime member of the Maine General Hospital Alumni Association of Portland. She is survived by two brothers Fred Whittaker of Houlton and Guy Whittaker of Texas; a sister Hazel Welch of Corinna; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great-grand nieces and great-grand nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bragdon-Flanders Funeral Home, South Main Street Monmouth. Burial will follow at the Pittsfield Village Cemetery.
