About Georg Hamilton Rokkan
Grandpa Rokkan was a wonderful and very kind person. Very generous with his money to his family and friends. Overlooked debts owed to him. Loved to smoke his pipe. Was very quiet and loved to play gin rummy. I never beat him once at that card game. He ejoyed visiting his family in Iowa and staying at the farm for two or three months at a time. He was friendly to everyone. An easy going person. Loved lutefisk cooked by a friend, Mrs. Iverson of Kennewick, WA. Although my grandparents had been divorced for many years, I sat next to him at my grandmother Ann's funeral and watched as his eyes filled with tears that rolled down his cheeks. He never remarried once they divorced. He was the most pleasant and kind of grandfathers and when my brother came home from school always said "how are you doing professor?". He was always kind and generous with smiles and good words in between puffing on his pipe.
