About George E. Abbott

Services Held For Prominent Tremonton Man

George E. Abbott, 75, former Box Elder County Commissioner and Tremonton farmer, died Monday at 2:30 a.m. after a six day's illness with a heart ailment.

He was born March 26. 1884 in Farmington, a son of Thomas M. and Janette Smith Abbott. He was reared in Farmington and attended the Brigham Young College in Logan.

He married Mabel Waldron Dec, 4, 1907 in Farmington. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

They have made their home in Tremonton since their marriage. Mrs. Abbott died July 13, 1969. An active church and civic worker. Mr. Abbott served two terms as a county commissioner and four years as a member of the State Road Commission. He was also a member of the Bear River Stake High council for several years and worked as a member of the Boy Scout council.

Surviving are the following sons and daughters, Dr. Emerson Abbott, Eugene, Ore.; Jed R.; Mrs. John (Rae) Barnard, and Mrs. Kleon (Kathrym) Kerr, all of Tremonton and Dr. J. T. Abbott, Cottage Grove, Ore.; also 14 grandchildren, one brother, Fred M.. Abbott, Ogden, and one sister, Delia Grove, Huntsville.

Funerai services were conducted Tuesday in the Tremonton First Ward chapel by Bishop Reid Oyler of the Tremonton Fourth Ward in charge: Burial was in the Riverview, Cemetery by Rogers Mortuary.
