About George Appignani
I was about six or severn years old when George left for the Air Force and the war. I remember my Aunt and Uncle as well as my mother and father were very upset because my Larry also left for the Army.
What I remember about George was he was very tall,(maybe because I was little) and handsome. I remember one time when we went to New York to visit my aunt and uncle George was putting a model plane togeather. He let me help him glue the orange tissue paper on the tail end of the model plane. He had such patience. That is all I remember of him.
I do remember my mother telling some story's about George.
During the summer my aunt and uncle would come to our house with their family because we were considered the country. In the winter we would go to their house for holidays. I remember my mother telling that on one Christmas when they got to aunt Themis house she said "Rose someone told me that George is on the newreal at the movies let go see if it is true". So we all went to the movies, to tell you the truth I don't remember this.
The next thing I remember is when George was reported dead, we went to New York and when we got into aunt Themis and Uncle Penardi house she was sitting on the couch with Tebo the dog(who I didn't like because he barked a lot) and she looked so sad. She said I lost my life today. At the time I didn't understand what she meant now I really understand.
