First born child of Elizabeth Tittle and William English. Born in Tenn. The family migrated to Texas (arriving in what is now Shelby County) First Sheriff of San Augustine County, Tx in 1827 November 29,1835/ First Lieutenant of Infantry of the General Council of the Provisional Government of Texas. May 31, 1837, appointed by President Houston as Captain of a Company of mounted gunmen for duty in Shelby County. President of the Board of Land Commissioners of Shelby County/1839 Lieutenant in Captain A. M. Truett's Company in the Monterey Campaign in the Mexican War(1846). Also inlisted in the Confederate service and fought in the Civil War 1861-1865. At that time he had long been a citizen of Houston County, having removed from San Augustine County at an early day and spent his later years in this county. George never married or had any children of his own.
