About George Lewis Herman Bauer
He was born in the Town of West Turin on November 24, 1908, the son of Henry and Matilda Brutcher Bauer, and had spent his entire life in the vicinty of West Leyden. For several years he operated the Bauer farm at Mohawk Hill.
He had operated a trucking business in West Leyden for 37 years until ill health forced his retirement some time ago. He had also served the Town of Lewis as justice of the peace for eight years.
Mr. Bauer was a member of the West Leyden Reformed Church and had served on the consistory of the church.
He was a member of the Boonville Elks Lodge, a member of the Forestport Odd Fellows Lodge, a member and past president of the West Leyden Fire Department, a member of the West Leyden Fish and Game Club Schmoker Memorial and a member of the Lewis County magistrates Association.
