George Christopher Bloomer

George served in the AIF in World War One. George enlisted in the AIF at he start of the war (7 Sept 1914) but unfortunately he was seriously injured during training and was discharged for medical reasons. At this time his father was living in Dalwallinu. As soon as George was well enough he re-enlisted on 4 Sept 1916. He was in the 16th Battalion. He embarked for Europe on the HMAT Argyllshire in November 1916. He was mustard gassed in the trenches of France and shot in the leg but survived and returned to Australia in August 1918.

George originally worked with his father in the printing business in Perth. He married his wife Mabel during World War One. He was the father of 11 children with his wife Mabel. He was very social and loved to play cards and board games like all the Bloomer family. He was a member of the T-club in Dumbleyung. He lived in Maylands, Wagin and Dumbleyung. He moved with his large family firstly to Wagin then Dumbleyung during World War 2.
