Notes for GEORGE BRANDON: According to researcher Stephen Brandon, Cornelius Brandon b.c. 1783 Rowan Co. NC was brought to Rutherford Co. TN as a youth by George Brandon, Joseph Tennison and his wife, Sibella (Brandon) Tennison.Oral tradition says he was an adopted nephew of this George Brandon.Testing of a descendant of Cornelius verifies that line does not match these Brandons, however closely affiliated.(Cornelius m. 31 Jan 1805 Mary Phoebe Tennison.)I have to check the account since this George and his nephew George both went to Rutherford County. From Brandon researcher Suzy Parker: Salisbury District Equity Enrolling Docket, NC Archives DSCR 207.314.4, as published in the Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County, NC (BGSOTC, p.371) - George Brandon died intestate in 1821 leaving heirs his brothers and sisters: John, Abraham, Christopher deceased (heirs Ruthy, George, Sybil wife of Joseph Tenneson, Sarah wife of Joseph Harton/Hardon, Mary Ann wife of David Sharp, Hannah wife of Thomas Campbell, Samuel, Thomas, David and Rebecca), Mary deceased wife of John McGuire (heirs George, Thomas, Sarah wife of William Bell, Mary Ann wife of Isaac Galaspie) and Sidany deceased wife of James Withrow (heirs Mary, Mary Ann and John). Chris's heirs don't quite match the ones in his own will, though.
