[Capt.] George Brent, merchant, born about 1640.

He married (1st) about 1670 Elizabeth Greene, born 1654/5, daughter of [Capt.] William Greene, by Mary, daughter of William Layton, Knt., of Feckenham, Worcestershire. They had

  • three sons,
    • George,
    • Nicholas, and
    • Robert,
  • and two daughters,
    • Anna Maria
    • Elizabeth (wife of Thomas Longman).

He and his family immigrated to Virginia before 1673, where they settled at "Woodstock" in Stafford County. He served as an agent with William Fitzhugh for the Proprietors of the Northern Neck. His wife, Elizabeth, died in childbirth 26 March 1686, and was buried in Aquia Cemetery, Stafford County, Virginia.

He marrried (2nd) 27 March 1687 Mary Sewall, born 1658/59, widow of Col. William Chandler, of Charles County, Maryland, and daughter of Henry Sewall, of St. Mary's County, Maryland, Secretary of Maryland, by Jane, daughter of Vincent Lowe, Esq. They had

  • one son, Henry, and
  • two daughters,
    • Mary (wife of Oswald Neale), and
    • Martha.

His wife, Mary, died in childbirth 12 March 1693/4.

[Capt.] George Brent died testate at Woodstock, Stafford County, Virginia 1694-1700.
