George was born in 1789 in Knoxville Knox County, Tennessee (Ben M. Angel notes: in 1789, this would have been White's Fort, situated just inside Hawkins County, North Carolina - a primary source for the birth location would be appreciated). Per Geni.com website, George "drowned while trying to save his daughter Elizabeth while crossing swollen Spring Creek."
