Don't give up! Please keep querying at intervals, as you're doing,
and eventually I'm confident we'll be able to identify him.
Now your previous query identified George as George Washington, and
mentioned Ohio as the place he ended up. I couldn't find a George
Washington born 1780 (most of these names occur after the namesake
was inaugurated president in 1788), but when I searched for any

I was wondering how reliable a source the AGBI can be. I have obtained some information from the Boston Transcript from 3 Jul 1929 about my Brooks line. [as well as some of my other family lines] It appears to be a submission for further information on the family lines of Brooks, Hubbard, Blizzard and Clark. [I have a good idea who the submitter is] It isn't really new information, but it does have more of a time line for the Brooks family.
I guess my question is: Can the information from the AGBI or the Boston Transcript be taken as generally reliable?
The condensed version from the Boston Transcript is:
Jonathan Brooks married Sarah Hubbard somewhere in Connecticut. They had son John born Dec. 22, 1755, either at Ridgefield, CT or Southbury, Litchfield Co. [Dec 4, 1755 in Ridgefield CT-Vital Records]
Jonathan and family removed to Peenpack, Ulster Co (Deerpark, Orange Co.) about 1770
John Brooks married Rachel Blizzard and had son George, born Aug. 29, 1780 and bap. Oct. 29, 1780 [verified in Minisink Valley Reformed Dutch Church Records, 1716-1830]
About 1795, John Brooks removed to Pompey, Onondaga Co., NY
George Brooks married Nov. 9, 1809, Mary Clark, daughter of Elisha Clark and wife Elizabeth.
John and son George then removed to Erie (Huron) Co., OH, about 1810.

NOTE: There is a George Brooks listed as head of Household on 1790 census living near a John Brooks - this obviously is not same, but could be uncle and therefore lead on this Brooks line as George less common name prior to 1770 when that George would have been born
