George was born about 1644 in Watertown, Massachusetts, the son of merchant Thomas Broughton and Mary Bisco.
George married Perne Rawson in about 1665. They were the parents of John, Rachel, Mary , Edward and Perne (the last four appear in the Boston birth records between 1666/7 and 1677). [2]
George and Perne "moved to Maine between the baptism of their daughter Perne at Boston in July 1677, and October 1678, when George's brother John sold him his half-share in their three acres near the sawmill."[3]
Perne's husband, George, died sometime before 1 May 1691, when a liquor license was granted to "Widdow Broughton."
