About George Leo Chambers

George Leo Chambers moved on to his next adventure on Thursday, January 5, 2012. Leo was born November 1, 1933 in Lake Shore, Utah to George Harrison Chambers and Lenora Bowles Chambers. There he grew up on a farm where he enjoyed the companionship of his favorite horse. He later moved to Payson, Utah where he graduated from high school in 1951. While roller skating with his friends in Nephi that same year, he met his soul-mate, Ruth LuAine Hansen. They were later married on June 3, 1955 in the Manti Temple.

Leo was a hard worker. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and had his own business as a roofing contractor. He had an unwavering testimony of the LDS church. He influenced many through his service as bishop, scoutmaster, teacher, ward missionary, and temple ordinance worker. His good example was a legacy he passed on to his children.

Leo had a great love for the scouting program. He received several awards for his years in scouting including the Silver Beaver Award. He loved the mountains, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Leo love to go adventuring on his snowmobiles and ATVs. He went on many enjoyable trips with his wife, family, and friends. His grandchildren and great grandchildren had a special place in his heart. He loved hearing about them and spending time with them.

He is survived by his eternal companion, LuAine, his children Rick (Suzette), Dan (Angie), Shana (Mike), Alan (Nikki), and Jeannie (Kent), his 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and siblings Betty Llewellyn, and Marion Cox. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Max Llewellyn.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Payson Eleventh Ward, 902 West 400 North. Viewings will be held Sunday evening, January 8th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West in Payson, and Monday prior to the services from 9:45-10:45 at the church.

Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
