Baptism - 12th April 1841 George (born 22nd August 1831) son of John and Ann Chappell of Hoylandswaine, father's occup Nailer. In Silkstone Parish Church Baptism Registers 1841 Page 230 No 1834. George was 9 years old when he was baptised, his brother Joseph was baptised at the same time aged 5 years old, his sister Ann Chappell aged 4 1/2 years old was buried on the same day.. 1841 Census - George Chappell aged 10 years living Top of Hill, Hoylandswaine with parents John (30) (occup Nail Maker) and Ann (27) and 3 siblings Joseph (6), Mary (2) and John (2 months). 1851 Census - George Chappell aged 20 (Occup Nail Maker) living 102 Mustard Hill, Hoylandswaine with parents John (38) (occup Nail Maker) and Ann (36) (occup Nail Maker) and 5 siblings Joseph (16) (occup Nail Maker), Mary (12) (occup Nail Maker), John (10), Isaac (8) and Alfred (6). Marriage - 3rd August 1853 George Chappel aged 22 Bachelor Occup Nail Maker of Hoylandswaine, father John Chappel, father's occup Nail Maker TO Ann Yardley aged 21 Spinster of Hoylandswaine, father William Yardley, father's occup Nail Maker. Married in the Parish Church (Silkstone) according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Established Church after Banns by me J L Walton, Vicar. This marriage was solemnized between us George Chappel (his mark X) and Ann Yardley (her mark X) in the Presence of us William Bashforth and Thomas Stayton (both wrote own names). In Silkstone Parish Church Marriage Registers 1853 Page 188 No 376. 1861 Census - George Chappell aged 30 (Occup Nail Maker) living High Royd, Hoylandswaine with wife Ann and daughter Caroline aged 4. 1871 Census - George Chappell aged 40 (Occup Nail Maker) living Hamper Lane, Hoylandswaine with wife Ann and daughter Caroline aged 14. 1881 Census - George Chappell aged 50 (Occup Nail Maker) living Lower Haigh Head, Hoylandswaine with wife Ann aged 49. 1891 Census - George Chappell aged 60 (Occup Nail Maker) living Lower Haigh Head, Hoylandswaine with wife Ann aged 58. 1901 Census - George Chappell aged 70 a Widower (Occup Nail Maker) living Haigh Head, Hoylandswaine. Death registered - George Chappell aged 75, June q 1907, Wortley, volume 9c, page 161.
