George Alan Cook, 72, Palisade, formerly of Minneapolis, died Nov. 22, 2004, at his home.
He was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Minneapolis, the son of Raymond and Josephine [Berglund] Cook. He grew up in Hamel and attended schools at Crystal and Robbinsdale, graduating from the Robbinsdale High School in 1949. He then worked for Northern Pump for a time and then entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Twin Cities and continued working for Northern Pump. He married Delores J. Sodergren on June 16, 1956 in Minneapolis. He then began working as an iron fabricator doing decorative iron work. He worked with iron from 1956 until his retirement in 1995. He moved to the Palisade area in 1996 and has resided here since. He was a member of the NRA and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Funeral Service will be held Fri., Nov. 26 at noon from the Hilltop Chapel with the Rev. Barry Hite and the Rev. William Sass officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on Friday.
He is survived by his wife Delores, Palisade; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Forrest Sower, Nampa, Idaho, Susan and Greg Ellingson, Coon Rapids, Lisa and Kevin Moore, Oak Grove, and Linda Pajak and her fiance, Terry Ohlsen, Egan; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Marjorie Moberg, Beaverton, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Paul.
