About George Downing
George Downing was the 10th of 12 children born to Richard Downing and Mary Edge. He was born on the 8th of the 11th month of the year 1760/1761 in Uwchlan Twp., in Chester County, Pennsylvania, during the development of Colonial America.
As did numerous persons during this time, George as well as several of his siblings perished due to (most likely) Small Pox, for which at that time was no treatment. It is believed all the small children (who died young, probably of Small Pox) of Mary and Richard are buried here.
George was 4 1/2 when he died.
