GEDCOM Note

He first shows up in Tattnall Co. on the Land Lottery receiving no land.
County, Georgia in 1820. One interesting finding comes in 1818 when
George and Christopher Dyess received letters in the Millidgeville Post
Office in Balwin County, Georgia. These letters were never picked up.
Christopher and George Dyess had already moved on, George to Wilkinson
and Christopher to Mississippi.

Also note the children of George, like
Violater, William Christopher, and Thomas D. Dyess. These children would
be named for George's brothers, Christopher and Thomas, and after
George's mother, Violator. George died in Stewart County 11/1841 as proved by a
court record dated May 8th, 1945 where guardianship of George's minor
child, John H. Dyess was being decided. The order from the court stated
"John H. orphan of George Dyess" and this was signed by Elizabeth Dyess
(wife of George), William Christopher Dyess (son of George), and Issac
McGrady (son-in-law of George).
George's children married and moved first to AL and then to MS.

1841 GA Stewart Co. George died in apx Nov 1841 and is said to be buried in Aquilla Hill
Cemetery. Cemetery records list George's nethew Aquilla as being burried
in the unmarked grave. This is incorrect because Aquilla moved in Henry
Co. AL, and is found on several court records, and 1860 & 1870 Al Census.
Note:(Bef 1868 Christopher has died in Henry Co. AL. Probate records list
all the children of Thomas Dyess of Monroe Co. GA. and where they live.)

The land where the cemeteries are located in then Stewart Co. now Webster
Co. was owned by either George or Aquilla. Both men owned several land
lots ajacent to each other. George's son in law J. Carter purchased some
of the land and is also burried in an a near by cemetery.
