About George Arthur Forslin
ROCHESTER - George A. Forslin, 84, formerly of 3301 W. Oak Hill Road, Jamestown, died at 9:45 p.m. Tuesday (May 25, 2004) in the Shore Winds Nursing Home.
An area most of his life, he was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Juneau, Alaska, the son of Arthur and Bertha Bergman Forslin.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, including combat in Guam and Okinawa.
Along with Patrick Brennan, he owned and and operated Brennan and Forslin Roofing and Siding in Jamestown for several years. In later years, he was employed as foreman by Olson Brothers Home Construction in Jamestown. Prior to moving to Rochester in 2001, he had been a member of Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed sports, especially bowling and golf, and in earlier years played semi-professional baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Fox Forslin of Rochester, whom he married July 13, 1943; two daughters: Linda Bisgaard of Pittsburgh and Mary Trostle of Spencerport; a son, George A. Forslin of Albany; three grandchildren: Timothy D. Trostle of Brockport, Robert W. Trostle of Detroit and Jennifer S. Trostle of Spencerport; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Chamberlain of Westfield.
