About George H. Geis
George H. Geis, 82, of Keuterville, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2012, at Tri-State Memorial Hospital in Clarkston.
George was born Aug. 20, 1929, at Cottonwood, a son of Mike and Anna Poxleitner Geis. He attended the Stock Creek School before attending St. Joseph's Catholic School in Cottonwood. Following his education he worked for area ranchers. He was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He moved to Keuterville following his discharge from the Army. He married Mildred Forsman Aug. 23, 1956, at Keuterville. He worked in the woods for Rupe Wimer and other various logging companies before entering the cattle business. He ran cattle with Phil Wimer and Gladys McLaughlin and on his own with his kids.
He was a member of the Tri Parish's Holy Cross of Keuterville. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the VFW.
He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing old country-western songs. He loved spending time visiting with his family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred at the family home; his sons, Donnie of Elk City, Luke (Gina) of Keuterville, Jesse of Keuterville, Mark (Marina) of Keuterville, Kevin (Trina) of Keuterville, Kenny (Karie) of Keuterville and Gary of Lewiston; his daughters, Judy of Keuterville, Sharon (Jeff) Blackmer of Grangeville, Jeanne (Dale) Stubbers of Winona, and Sally (Jason) Brown of Moscow; 28 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Ray Geis of Lewiston; and sisters Martha Rieman of Lewiston, Grace Remacle of Cottonwood, Frances Nuttman of Keuterville, Rose Steiger of Kamiah, Margie Gentry of Kamiah and Rita Walker of Alabama.
He was preceded in death by two infant boys, two granddaughters, and four brothers, Martin, Xavier, John, Joe, an infant brother and two sisters, Anna McKinley and Mary Brown.
The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Parish in Keuterville. Burial will follow at the Keuterville Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Parish Keuterville.
