George Miles Gibson, Methodist Episcopal minister and author, the son of Wesley and Jane (Ward) Gibson, was born in Tazewell County, Virginia, on December 7, 1860. At Emory and Henry College, Virginia, he received an A.B. degree in 1887 and an M.A. degree in 1890. He was ordained a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, in 1888 and served as pastor of a number of churches in Missouri before he was transferred to El Paso, Texas, in 1904. He received a D.D. degree in 1914 and served several Texas churches from 1910 to 1926. Gibson was director of religious education of the North Texas Conference from 1926 to 1929. He wrote A History of the New Testament Times (1925) and The Evangelization of Children (1929). He married Florence Allen on October 14, 1891, and they had three children. He married Mrs. Leila Allen in July 1915. He died on March 30, 1932.
