"Death Claims Prominent Farmer
In failing health for three years, but seriously ill for only one month, George W. Grimes, aged 78 years, prominent Holbrook farmer and stock raiser, died Tuesday afternoon at 4:45 o'clock.
The deceased was born in Jackson Township, June 18, 1859, a son of Peter and Maria Ridgeway Grimes, deceased. He was twice married, his first wife being Mrs. Ella Roberts Grimes, whom he married in 1880 and who died in 1905. His second wife was Mrs. Lavica Milliken Grimes [sic Lavicia], whom he married in 1906 and who died in 1935. Surviving by his first marriage are four sons, John H. of Cleveland, O.; James A., of Johnstown; William E., of East Orange, N. J., and Orville O. Grimes, of Holbrook. Two brothers, James M. Grimes, of Canadaigua [sic Canandaigua], N. Y., and A. L. Grimes, of Waynesburg, also survive, along with nine grandchildren. He was a member of the Valley Chapel Methodist Protestant Church.
