About George N. Groveman
The relationship of Jacob and son George to my Grovemans is not verified, although they came from Ukraine. Relatives came from Novoselitsa and Hrosova (Bessarabia) and from Southwest Ukraine like areas around Krasilyv and Kaminets Podolsk in Wolyn. We know that because of arranged marriages, wars and Pogroms, business reasons, etc. people frequently settled far from their birth homes. We do have Groveman DNA which can show a relationship if a DNA cheek swab sample is submitted to FamilyTreeDNA.com
George emigrated to Canada from Beresteczko Wolyn UKR (A map can be seen by checking George's Geni documents), where his father was living. He arrived in Canada in 1912 and became a citizen of Canada. He lived with his cousin, Moses Hornstein and his wife, Eva Hornstein, in Saskatchewan. Perhaps, he had an arranged marriage with Jennie Horn of Philadelphia. I am not sure of that since Jennie was born Jennie Astkuchorn and not Horn or Hornstein. In any event, George moved to Philadelphia and married Jennie. Pincas was a shirt manufacturer. George opened a dry goods store in Bordentown NJ.
Moses Hornstein was born in 1893 in Russia and he arrived in Canada in 1907. Eva Hornstein was born in 1896 in Russia and she arrived in Canada in 1911.
George is on Ancestry in a private tree from tHalpern (Levensohn-Cohen-Brantz-Greenberg-Halpern).
